Driving in a Triangle -- What?

My family is so large (I have 8 brother and sisters) that we do not buy Christmas gifts for each other. We used to draw names and purchase gifts for our names but as nieces and nephews were getting married and having children, it wasn't always easy for these young families with 2 or 3 children to even buy gifts for the names they drew.

But, I do buy something for my Godchild, Brooklyn. Last year I made her a quilt which she uses all of the time. She came to stay with us this summer and brought it with her to sleep with. This year she requested doll blankets. Now, she is in 3rd grade so I wasn't sure if 3rd graders play with doll. (Yes, I should know that since I teach 3rd grade). So I text my niece and asked her what kind of dolls Brooklyn plays with.

Well, she doesn't really play with dolls. She plays with her build-a-bear and a rabbit she carries everywhere named AnnJane. So I got busy yesterday and came up with two mini quilts for her.

This one was made with scraps of Christmas fabric.

This one was made from leftovers from the pink and brown baby quilt I made a couple of weeks ago.

Today I am off to the Chiropractor (I go monthly for maintenance and that usually keeps me pain free.) I have finally figured out that the tugging and pulling I do on large quilts as I quilt them is what pulls my shoulders out of whack.

I still haven't found the shade of red fabric I need for my "Snowbound" quilt. So after I finish at the Chiropractor, I'm driving another 20 minutes to Mama's Log House Quilt Shop. It is the closest good quilting shop to me. After I leave that shop I'm going to drive another 15 minutes to be at another quilt shop in Greenwood. I haven't ever been to this one, but since I am close, I am going to give it a try. They have occasional classes, etc. that I may check into. I think it will depend on the atmosphere when I get there.

Then I am going to Alma probably another 30 minutes away from Greenwood and hope the acrylic deer I saw last Saturday are still there. Being so close to Christmas, I assume they are still 40% off. I really want a set for myself and am willing to wait until after Christmas sales and hope I get one. But I decided that would be a great Christmas gift for my mother-in-law and want to get her a pair.

So, I have a full day planned. Larry is off but he usually spends most of his day off after working his 24 hours shifts sleeping. (Usually everyone gets sick at night and they do not get much sleep.)

Believe it or not after all of this driving, I will still only be about an hour from home. I'll be making a triangle as I drive. So that is pretty cool.

What are you doing today?

Happy snipping, stitching, and quilting.

  2. Vivian, I like the thought of what you are doing today. I am doing all my baking and I have to go grocery shopping. I have three people and three dogs to buy for. I have no idea what I am buying yet. Sounds like a bummer ready to happen. lol. I take that back. I am thinking positive. I work great under pressure. I hope you find great deals today. Have fun.
