I just stopped by to tell Craig a big

Happy Easter

Sometimes I get songs stuck in my head. When I decided to keep the red, white, and black quilt and not give it as a wedding gift, I began to think of what I would do in place of the double wedding rings I was going to include.

I decided that I would like to put a bible verse in the spot. I took it from this song

And it is a great song to share on this day.

Wishing all of you a very

Help Needed with EQ6

Help!!! I am designing a quilt in EQ6 and using the applique text to put words into my quilt. I have the text box set up and the text typed in the font I want. The problem is the text is in the horizontal position and I need it in the vertical position to get it in the quilt border. I have used the rotation keys but cannot get the text box to rotate.

Can anyone tell me how to do this?

I think I figured it out . . .

Any time I set deadlines for myself, I lose the sewing mojo. For example, when I make personalized baby quilts for family. It is like pulling teeth to get me to finish them. Now, I started this quilt for a wedding present and it has set for almost two weeks and I haven't touched it.

I was going to try to start a business and even put an ad in the local paper. No replies, by the way. But now, I am thinking twice. I don't want sewing/quilting to be something I have to do. I want to happily sit down and make things for my family.

So, I have decided to just get a gift card for the wedding and finishing the quilt for family--whenever I feel like it. Now, that I have made that discovery and got this off my chest, I am hoping my mojo returns.

It's pretty bad when mydaughter said she had a dream that I started sewing again. lol

A Quiet Sunday

I have been reading more books lately and not as many blogs.  But yesterday morning as I was drinking my coffee I read what Marlene of Stitchin by the Lake wrote about Storms. She talked about the "storm" that would be raging in her sewing room as she cleaned it.

I have decided that "Yes, it is time for that storm to rage through my sewing room also."

So after church services and lunch today--that is my plan. The good news is that most items that are out on my table top are big items that just need put away. So it won't take but 30 minutes or so. It's just getting there that is the problem.

I tease the kids at school that the desk fairies will not come in and clean their desks. I guess it's time to realize that there will not be any fairies coming along to tidy my sewing room either.

Well, it's still early in the day. I wonder if my plan will be implemented or if something else will be calling.

Edited to add:  Nope! It didn't happen. I did clean my utility room. Somewhat. But I spent the day cooking lunch and then enjoyed reading for awhile.

Happy snipping, stitching, and sewing.

And so the cycle begins . . .

I enjoy reading Christian fiction especially about the Amish. I guess because their lifestyle is so simple. And they work, work, work. I am always inspired to get something done. But then I get caught up in my reading and still don't get my work done.

I stopped by the library a couple of days ago and I walked out with 5 books by Jerry Eicher. I have not read this author before and I am enjoying this first book in a series of three.

I often get caught up in series and am sad when I finish the last one. A good writer makes me feel like I personally know the characters and I feel like I am leaving friends when I read the last book.

I also checked out one book by Terri Blackstock. She is a Christian Fiction Mystery writer. Very good. Most libraries mark their Christian Fiction with a purple tag on the spine that has a cross and says "Christian Fiction". That makes it very easy to browse through the library and choose them quickly.

A change of subject . . .

I love the spring weather and having the windows open. I actually love the lower electricity bill. lol But we are surrounded by pine trees and after a couple days of windows open we have a yellow film of pollen on the laminate floors and every piece of furniture. So I got out the dust mop and sprayed a little furniture polish on it so the pollen would stick to the dust mop. The over spray got on the ceramic tiles in the kitchen and Craig found the slick spot. Rather quickly I must say.

The temps got down into the 30's again last night and the windows are closed once again. So today I dusted the furniture and then got out the Shark steamer and went over the floors again.  Now I know it is much cleaner. I am breathing better. But I won't be able to resist next week when the weather warms back up. And I'll be opening the windows again. And so the cycle begins again. lol

A Little Bitty Update!

Kelsey asked how my latest quilt is coming along. Sadly to say, it isn't. Worse yet, it is laying on the table almost in a wad.

How come? I'm not sure. I just haven't felt like working on anything sewing related in the last week or so. Hopefully, later on this week, I'll get the creative juices flowing again.

I think, too, with the warm weather I like to sit out on the back patio and read. The latest book I read, this weekend, was on my Kindle and was a free book.   I assume it is a Christian Fiction book.  I really enjoyed it.

I just found out it is no longer free.

Still working on school things every now and then so there's not much to tell.

Happy snipping, stitching, and quilting!

Nothing Much to Tell

Kelsey text me and told me she needed to see an update. So here goes . . .

I have not touched the sewing machine since, oh let's see,  Monday or maybe it was Sunday. Anyway, just haven't felt like sewing.

But I have not been sitting idle.

I have actually been working on school stuff. Looks boring, huh? Even worse, I am working on curriculum for the next school year. Call me crazy, but I have learned that if I have the urge to work on school stuff at home, do it. Because there will be many times this summer when I should be working on curriculum that I won't want to. So the more I get finished before June, the less I have to do this summer.

The state of Arkansas has decided to adopt the National Core Curriculum. While this will be extra work for teachers for the next couple of years, it will be better for the students. Using the National Standards means we will be teaching the same curriculum (hopefully at around the same time) as many other schools in the United States.

I have a student that transferred here in November. Last week, I found out that she has not been taught geometry this school year and I had already covered it before she transferred in. With Arkansas adopting the National Standards, hopefully things will be easier on students transferring schools between states. Yep, I'm rambling, but Kelsey asked for it. lol

A Pillow is Born

If you read my previous post, you will know I was on the look out for this fabric . . .

Karen was nice enough to e-mail All About My Kaleidoscope Quilt Shop to ask what fabric line this was.  She found out it was called "Quiltgate".  I know there were a couple of you that wanted to know what it was. I hope this helps you.

The reason I was looking for this fabric line was because I fell in love with this pillow and wanted to make one just like it.

Well, I decided to just look through my scraps and use what I had. So this morning, I proceeded to choose fabric and draw out the letters. This is what I came up with.

I was in such a hurry to get it all together that I forgot to add the extra embellishments, like the hearts and embroidery. And now I realize I forgot the lace also. So I may have to make another one later on and give this one to one of the kids.

But for now, it has a home on this bench that my dad made me years ago.

Happy snipping, stitching, and quilting.
