Pillow finished . . .

and now I think I'll start on the stocking quilt.  I started last night but didn't like what I was doing.  So, I guess I will take those few stitches out and try again tonight. If . . . I'm not too lazy.

More progress on Stocking Pillow

Another day in a workshop at school. Even though I was home by 4:15, a few things came up and I finally made it to the sewing room around 7. I was able to get the stockings appliqued on my pillow. The pattern called for white rick rack. Not to be seen in my town. lol. So I just made my own by piecing different colored green strips end to end and cutting each side.

The stars are pinned on and ready for my next sewing session. Hopefully, sometime tomorrow.

Happy snipping, stitching, and quilting.

A Little Progress

I was able to get the applique cut out for my new project.

Oops. Some of the smaller applique pieces are not on this pic.

I actually sat down and sewed for about 20 minutes and then remembered that my niece had a softball game. So we decided to go watch her team play for a little bit.  I had school workshops on Monday and Tuesday and another one today.  All this leads to only a little bit of progress.

I have decided . . .

that it is not good to take a break from sewing during the summer. I get lazy and then have a hard time getting back to it.

Because I had some minor surgery and am not to lift for the next few weeks, I've decided that tugging quilts through the machine may not be a good idea. So the stocking quilt is on hold for a few weeks.

I did sit down and pick out the fabrics for a new project.

Any guesses as to what I am making?  It will be a small seasonal project.

The Stocking Quilt

I finally took the time today to sandwich the "High Strung" quilt from "Tis the Season".  If you would like to preview the book go to this website and click on the picture to enlarge it.

I used my table instead of the floor for the last quilt I sandwiched and it worked pretty well. So I used it again today. It does save my knees (getting up and down off of the floor) but it still causes some lower back pain. But I can live with it. As I finish one area, I just stretch the next area, clamp it to the table, and add pins.

Hmmm. I guess it could be a tablecloth.

This book has so many cute Christmas ideas. I just want to make them all. But I think my next project out of it will be the large pillow on the front cover. I'm thinking this quilt will look so cute hanging on the wall with the pillow on the bed beneath it.

Kelsey played the piano at a friend's wedding yesterday. It was lovely, as usual. It's funny I didn't cry at Craig and Becca's wedding (even though I thought Becca would get teary eyes saying the vows--but she didn't) but I almost did yesterday. I think it's the church atmosphere and hearing Kelsey play the piano so beautifully.

Hopefully, I'll start quilting on this quilt tonight. We'll see.

Happy snipping, stitching, and quilting.
