Design Wall Monday

I was doing well at working on WIP's and have started quilting "Tree Time".

Then I checked my calendar and realized that a cousin is getting married at the end of April--not June like I thought. So, I put everything on hold and started a quilt to give to the happy couple. I am making an easy 9 patch on point.

I checked their registry and, based on the colors of what was on the list, decided to make the quilt red, black, beige, and white. I was able to get almost all of the 9 patch blocks made and the white alternating blocks cut out.

I really like these colors. Do you ever get over wanting to keep every quilt you make because you really like the color combinations?

Be sure to head over to Judy's for Design Wall Monday. It's always fun to see what other quilters are up to.

  1. That is going to be a great quilt and hopefully will be fairly fast to do. Yes sometimes I have a hard time giving away a quilt I especially like.

  2. Make an ugly one. You'll sure want to get rid of it then.

  3. I do love the colors. It's hard to give a quilt away until you see the look on the recipients face, then it's all worth it! They are going to love this quilt.

  4. that's nice that you take the time to make a quilt for the couple. I have rarely done that because I hand quilt and it take too much time and I never have enough stacked up ready to be given away.
    I love the colors.

  6. Oh yes, I sometimes have a horrible time giving away quilts. Perhaps that is why I have lots and lots of quilts stashed through out the house. Nice beginning on the 9 patch.

  7. I have only made one quilt I wanted to give away. And it is going on the frame today. I figure that somewhere in the quilting I will start to love it and then it will have to be yanked out of my hands when it goes to a 25th anniversary in June.

  8. No I love every quilt I make and find that giving one away not always easy. Even the "ugly" ones, lol. This is going to be a wonderful quilt and they will love it.

  9. Very striking colors! Nine patches are so friendly and effective in design. It is always hard to give away a quilt you've put so much into.

  11. I never get over wanting to keep all my quilts. I have withdrawals when I even think of giving one away. I think I am getting hives now just thinking about it.

  12. Nope! I miss every quilt I have given away and think of "remaking" them sometimes...it's a sickness!

  13. I'm glad to see there are others who have as much trouble parting with their creations as I do. Nine patches are so simple but effective!
