Ta--da . . .

It is my first finish of the year.

Well, I did it. I sat down tonight and did some straight line quilting on the border of my "Snowbound" quilt, added the binding, and it is finished.

The colors are off and I don't have a place to get a good picture. Rumor has it that it is supposed to be warm and sunny again tomorrow. So hopefully, I can take it outside and get a couple of good pictures.

Rumor also has it that snow is inching it's way back to us next week. I guess that would be a perfect back drop also. We'll see.

Happy snipping, stitching, and quilting.

Progress on "Snowbound"

I had my monthly teacher dinner tonight so I missed the ball game. But, I got home in time to sit down and quilt for a little while.

Remember this quilting on my "Snowbound" quilt. (I thought something just wasn't right and took it out.)

What a difference the quilting thread makes sometimes.

Granted you can't see the quilting but now I can see my thread accents.

Now I just need to quilt in the borders and add binding.

I can't believe it has taken me this long to get this quilted. I was so excited to get it finished. My, my I lose interest fast. lol

Hopefully, I'll sit down tomorrow and finish it. If . . . I can decide what fabric to use for the binding.

Happy snipping, stitching, and quilting.

Design Wall Monday & "Snowbound Quilt"

One of my design walls has the "Tree Time" blocks on it still. I haven't worked on them at all.

One the other design wall is one poor little lonely "Poinsettia Block".

I put it there when I was working yesterday to remind me that I really need to work on this wall hanging.

In the meantime, I resumed quilting on the "Snowbound" quilt yesterday. I finished stitching around the blocks and then started quilting on the blocks. I decided to do a edge to edge loop and stars meandering. I know most people don't quilt over the applique but I decided to see what it would look like. I can't make up my mind if I want to continue or rip it all out and start again.

I believe it looks fine on these Irish Chain blocks but . . .

I'm wondering if it looks too busy or takes away from the applique on the snowman blocks.  I really dread taking it out but I don't want to mess up the quilt.

Be sure to stop by Judy L's to see what everyone else is working on .

Is Sleep Over-rated?

Are you one of those people who don't sleep well no matter how tired you are? I feel like I hardly ever get a good night's rest. If I go 2 or 3 nights in a row where I feel like I lay awake most of the night, I'll take a Tylenol pm the next night and will sleep pretty well. Maybe that's why I think sleeping is such a waste of time. Heaven forbid I should take a nap. If I do, believe me I will not sleep a wink all night.

I have decided that Larry and I just enjoy sitting around in hospitals.  His procedure yesterday was supposed to start at 10 a.m. They put an emergency surgery in front of him so his didn't start until almost 12:30. But everything looked good. I had my kindle so it wasn't too awful bad. I did keep thinking about what I could be doing at home.

Then, when we came home I was going to sit down and quilt but just decided that I didn't feel like it.  I sat down and watched the movie "A Star is Born" with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.

I used to listen to that soundtrack because my sisters played all of the time.  Remember the old 8-track tapes. Scary, huh.  I really should watch the original version but I haven't seen it yet. I'm kind of curious as to what music is in it. Maybe I'll watch it today.

We went to the ball games last night. Both local teams lost. So they play today at 3 and 4:30.

Until later . . .

Happy snipping, stitching, and quilting.

Lucky Larry

Tomorrow he is scheduled for a colonoscopy--so boy is he having fun today. A liquid diet and then drinking that nasty stuff. So tomorrow as he is having his procedure I will be waiting for him in the waiting room. Thankfully he is having it done at the local hospital so it is only 5 minutes from home. I have a good book downloaded on my Kindle so I am all set. I'll just have to remember to dress in layers so I am not freezing. You know how cold hospitals usually are.

I got the 2 borders sewn on the"Snowbound" quilt. The backing is chosen and pieced. All I need to do is sandwich it and I'll be ready to go tomorrow. If I'm not too tired after the ball game, I may do that tonight while I watch a movie.

Our High School is hosting a Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament beginning today. The girl's  played at 7 p.m. They won.  The boy's played at 8:30. They also won--by a land slide.  The last time they played this team, Ismael scored 24 points and had I don't know how many assists. So this time they guarded him so well he couldn't do much. By the end of the 1st quarter the B team was in and by the end of the game the C team was in. So I left at the beginning of the 4th quarter.

They play again tomorrow night at 8:30. I hope Larry will feel well enough to go with me. So until next time . . .

Happy snipping, stitching, and quilting.

Some Things Are Just Hilarious

I started off my day cleaning the sewing room. Larry got me a new work bench tool box from Sam's Club for Christmas. So I began putting things in drawers, etc. I went through my meager stash and folded it neatly. And straightened shelves. I didn't get finished but I did make progress. Craig came in this morning and said, "You mean you already have the top covered with stuff."

As I was cleaning the room, I had the embroidery machine going stitching out a pattern for a scarf like I made my sisters for Christmas. I'm glad I got that cream colored fleece because it matches the coat Kelsey got me for Christmas. I sure wish I could get some gloves to match. Well, I guess I could, but we all know how long they would stay that color. Not very. lol

This was another $1 pattern from Embroidery Library. It had about 30 thread changes and took over two hours to stitch out.

Larry was working so the kids and I had leftovers for dinner. I think we were all happy we didn't have to cook. The only problem was that I had planned to make fresh rolls today and forgot all about it until time to eat. So I was disappointed--no rolls.

After we ate, Craig and I played WII for hours. We played basketball, golf, table tennis, wave boarding, sword fighting, and I don't know what all else. We laughed until we cried and then laughed some more. Hence, the title of this blog post.

So I didn't get my "Snowbound" Quilt top finished but I had a blast. I did get the first border strips cut out. They are waiting patiently in a pile for me to sew on.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll get back on track. But it's Christmas break and this time is so much more fun and relaxing when I just go with the flow and do whatever catches my fancy. Chiropractor first thing in the morning, then sewing, a good salad for lunch (to counteract all I've eaten the past two days), more sewing and straightening the house, and then ball games in the evening. What a life!

Snowbound -- Stalled

Snowbound update!!!  Sorry for the poor photo but it is after 11 and I don't want to move lights around so I have good lighting.

Well, I'm stalled on Snowbound because I don't have enough red for the inner border. So, I'll stop by Hobby Lobby tomorrow on my way to Little Rock to see if I can find some in the right shade. I have some red with tiny white polka dots but has way too much orange in it. It clashes with the other reds in the top. Not sure if you can tell by the photo.

Head over to Patchwork Times to catch up on what others have up on their design wall this lovely Monday.

Design Wall Monday

Right now on my design wall, I have blocks 1-10 for the Bunny Hill "Snowbound" BOM. I have blocks 11 and 12 laid out to applique tomorrow evening.

Isn't it funny how pictures can change when just a few feet apart in the same room. The top photo is more true to the actual color of the fabrics.

It will be nice to come home tomorrow evening and go straight to sewing.  Oops, I have a basketball game to go to tomorrow. Maybe I can get one completed before I go. Then I can do the other one on Wednesday.

After I applique these two blocks, I'll only have to sew the blocks together and decide on the border(s) and then I can sandwich it and quilt. My goal is to begin quilting the quilt by this weekend.

Remember to drop by "Patchwork Times" for Design Wall Monday.

All Caught Up

I finished my 9th block of the Snowbound BOM from Bunny Hill Designs. So, I am all caught up. Now I have to wait for the next 3 month's blocks to come out. The last one is supposed to be posted in December. But, I hope she releases it a little early so I can get it finished for the holidays. I usually start decorating the day after Thanksgiving.

I also have all of the Irish Chain Blocks completed. In the next few days, I will probably go ahead and finish embellishing the blocks and sew together all of the completed blocks. Then I will be able to finish it more quickly in December.

I really need to plan the borders and backing so I can have them ready also. I believe her pattern calls for one 4 inch red border. I may have to piece some reds together or order some red fabric because I don't think I have a large enough piece of any one fabric to make borders.

I attended the wedding of a niece today. It was simple but beautiful. Her dress was really pretty--form fitting and elegant--not one of the heavy ball gowns.  I didn't have my camera with me so--no pictures. I also was able to hold some of the beautiful babies that have been born this past summer.

I'm not sure what tomorrow will bring. I don't have my planning done for school this week so I will either have to finish them tomorrow at home or go to school for a few hours. But, I know I'll take time to do some sewing.

Happy snipping, stitching, and quilting.

Friday Night Sew-In Update

While I did get something accomplished I didn't get started early enough to get a lot accomplished.

I ended up staying at work until almost 7 p.m. when Larry met me there. We then went out to eat as we were both starving. So it was well after 8:30 before I got home and started.
I had two "Snowbound" blocks from Bunnyhill Designs free BOM already cut out. I was able to get them appliqued and a third block completed.

So today I am sewing, cleaning house, and doing laundry. Aren't we quilters talented?

Happy snipping, stitching, and quilting!
