Poinsettia Quilt & Design Wall Monday
The blocks are all sewn together. Hopefully, it won't take me long to cut and sew the sashings. Then I have a wide green border to add.
I will use it as a wall hanging in the dining area. I would love to use it on the main wall in the living room behind the TV but I still have one of those bulky TV sets. And I refuse to get one of the new thin ones until it goes completely out.
I really planned to sew all weekend but other things got in my way.
Friday evening Larry and I went to watch the local high school football team in the playoff game. It was quite windy which made it pretty cool. Larry was freezing so we left at half time.
I planned to get up and begin sewing early on Saturday morning, but then I decided to get my Christmas village out and put it up. This year, I put it above my kitchen cabinets. It took me almost 5 hours to complete that little project. I know it is early, but if I wait until after Thanksgiving, I feel like I have to take the decorations down as soon as I get them up.
After that, I sat down to rest for about an hour. Then I was able to sew for awhile.
On Sunday, I went downstairs and picked up the stuff Craig left laying in the middle of his bedroom floor. Then I vacuumed the carpets, going over it several times. After that I went up and cleaned a little bit in the living room.
Kelsey and her boyfriend came to visit for a couple of hours. He seems to be a very nice young man. Although she does say he is a little bossy. (Not that she is bossy at all.) Surely she can break him of that. Lol.
After they left, I spent the evening at the machine.
Hurry on over to Judy's for Design Wall Monday.
Happy snipping, stitching, and quilting!

Oh Vivian, the Pointsettia Quilt is exquisite! Is it machine appliqued? It really is gorgeous and it makes me smile! I love your little Christmas village. Enjoy your week!! :)
ReplyDeleteThose poinsettias are very pretty. I'm sure the sashing and border will take no time at all, compare to all that applique :)
ReplyDeleteYour blocks looks beautiful, this is going to be so neat! Your Christmas village looks perfect on top of the cabinets.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blocks Vivian!
ReplyDeleteEvery time I open your blog that quilt makes me smile. And I really like the new one you are working on. Now, would you like to come set out our Christmas Village? We traveled last Christmas so it didn't get out of the boxes: really looking forward to seeing it this year.
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt and can't wait to see it hanging on your wall. I am also of the thought to wait on Christmas decorations until December. I wait until after hubby's birthday per his request years ago and I leave them up until January!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful setting for your Christmas Village. And, your wall hanging will be scrumptious. Funny how life gets in the way of our plans!
ReplyDeleteThe Christmas Village is beautiful above the cabinets. Neat idea.
ReplyDeleteI love the Poinsettia blocks. At first I thought I was looking at tiles! Please keep showing us these blocks as you make progress on them.
Those are beautiful blocks!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blocks - I really like that flower in most anything. i love your village. Mine hasn't been up since we moved here 5 years ago. Maybe yours will inspire me. Thanks for the eye candy.
ReplyDeleteYour poinsetta blocks are beautiful! And I love those Christmas villages -I totally understand putting it out now so you have more time to enjoy it. As life speeds by more quickly than ever it seems, I also feel like I have just finished putting up decorations when it is time to put them away.
ReplyDeleteOh! Stunning, takes my breath away. Love the poinsettia! I'm with you! We will not replace our old tv until it goes out. We always ask ourselves "Want or need?"....but I don't let this apply to fabric! Toni
ReplyDeleteYour poinsettias are pretty, and I feel the same way about the old bulky tv too...we have three...
ReplyDeleteI love this Christopherson quilt! Yours is so pretty!! Hope to make it some day. Love your village too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt. I think I saw the poinsettia pattern at keepsake quilting and was so tempted to buy it. Seeing yours makes me wish I had ordered it right away. What a nice variety of reds and greens.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! Will look great on your wall.
ReplyDeleteThat poinsettia quilt is going to be GORGEOUS! Love the colors in the quilt and in your home. I can tell you have a real flair for decorating. ;o)
