I also commented on the quilt I had made Craig. Well, Becca sent me a picture of the quilt.
She said the lump in the quilt was one of the cats. Too funny. The name of the quilt is Autumn Ridge. It is a Log Cabin Block which are not that hard to make. But by the time I finished this quilt, I felt like pulling my hair out.
It was probably one of the first 5 quilts I made when I started quilting again about 4 years ago. I was new to using rotary cutters. (Can you believe that I actually cut the pieces for the first few quilts I made, many years ago, tracing templates and using scissors.) I did not keep track of how many pieces I had cut out. I had to purchase extra fabric because I wanted it bigger to fit his super single waterbed. So that meant cutting extra blocks out at the end. I was never so tired of cutting those strips. I was scrounging around for fabric because I didn't want to purchase anymore. All that makes for an aggravated quilter.
I told Craig that his quilt was a pain and that I wouldn't ever make a Log Cabin again. But after seeing this quilt of CJ's, I know I will. I just love the way she used the pieced blocks with the embroidered blocks. And then, I realy need a quilt for the wall in our den. And it is going to be a woodsy room. So a quilt like Craig's would go great in that room.
Oh, so many ideas. So little time.
Happy snipping, stitching, and quilting.
log cabins blocks are one of the best blocks to make I think - fast and easy - I think I have made about 5 of them over the years. I like the colors you used.
ReplyDeleteI too use to only use templates and scissors.

What a fun, happy quilt! It's wonderful---I would love to have in those exact colors. :) The Poinsettias are going to be so beautiful...I have that book and wish I had made one of each of the patterns in there. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cheerful quilt! I've recently started quilting and love it! Just found your blog and love it too! There are so many quilts I want to learn how to make and a log cabin quilt is one of them. Have a blessed Lord's Day tomorrow!
