Design Wall Monday

I spent a wonderfully relaxing Sunday in the sewing room.

Not really anything on my design wall. It is on my cutting table instead. But I just had to sew one block together to see what it will look like. This one is being made as a Christmas gift but I believe it may be hard to give away.

There will be other Irish Chain blocks that are pinks and white. I haven't started cutting the pink fabric yet. This is really the first quilt I have made sewing strips together and then cutting them. I am amazed by how much faster it is than cutting each piece separately.

Looking for new quilting ideas. Visit Design Wall Monday at Judy L's Patchwork Times.

Happy snipping, stitching, and quilting.

  4. Irish Chains go together really well with strip piecing if you are using two colors - do it with scraps and it takes three times as long! This project looks like it will be lovely.

  5. How beautiful. Orange is my favorite color, but green is a CLOSE second!

I would have a hard time giving that one away, too, lol.

  9. Isn't strip-piecing great? I try to use this technique whenever possible. And if you can strip piece then you can make a bargello quilt. This is going to be striking.

  11. What beautiful fabric. I have never done an Irish Chain but the idea of strip piecing sounds really good. I may have to give that a try.
