Date Night A-Z

A few internet teacher friends gave me the idea to do date nights from A to Z. It sounds like a dating service doesn't it? Actually, you just plan date nights using each letter of the alphabet. I told Larry about it and we went on the "A" date last night.  (No limit is put on how often you go out or what you do.)

I had planned to go to the Alma Performing Arts Center but the idea is to do things that are low cost and where you can just spend time together. So I decided we would go to an Arkansas State Park for a picnic. We drove to the Mt. Magazine State Park, which is about 15 miles from where we live.

It was very hard getting this picture because I just held my arm out and took it myself. My daughter does this all of the time and gets great pictures of her and her friends. What's the deal?

We chose a spot with a fabulous view . . .

Spread out a quilt . . .

and dined on shrimp cocktail, turkey, cheese, fruit, bread and crackers. We also enjoyed a sparkling wine. It was a light meal but plenty filling. (Oops, the food is gone. I forgot to take a picture before we started.)

We then drove to the lodge and walked around and chatted with a few people.

Then we came home and sat down to watch a Netflix.  We watched Arctic  Freeze. It was surprisingly good and both of us enjoyed it.

Larry was in charge of the "B" date, but after driving through the campground, I decided I would take the letter "B" and let him plan a camping trip for the "C" date.  Anyone know of any fun, inexpensive things to do that start with the letter "B".  (I'm curious to see if we actually make it to the letter "Z" or if we fizzle out.)

Well today, we are having a birthday/swim party for my great niece. I think she is turning 9. A simple meal of chili dogs is planned. I'm getting lazy in my party planning and wanted something that was easy to prepare and easy to clean up.

I haven't been to the sewing room since last Tuesday evening. I hope to spend a lot of time there during the week coming up.

Have you done anything special for your spouse lately?  Maybe you want to join us and plan your own date nights.

Happy snipping, stitching, and quilting!

  1. What a great idea! Spending time together doesn't have to be expensive, but care and attention to the details can make even a "budget" outing memorable!

  3. It's a wonderful picture you took! Fabulous date night idea. And I loved seeing my favorite quilt again at the picnic! How about Ballgame (support your local middle school team), Bowling, BBQ or Ballet (maybe a recital)? Play Badminton or go Bow target shooting.

  5. It looks like you had a lot of fun and such beautiful scenery (including your gorgeous quilt). Cheri has some good ideas for the letter B. My first thought was bicycling but you could take some burgers to a different park and BBQ there. You've got a great idea going!

  6. I think this is a great idea and you picked a great spot - it's so beautiful there! You have some good suggestions for B - baseball game, bicycle riding, BBQ, boat riding, and Bible study all come to mind. :) blessings, marlene

  7. This IS a great idea. I think it may just be what I have been looking for to add a bit of fun for hubby and me. We spend lots of time doing our own thing that we forget to do some special (low-budget) things together.

  8. What a neat idea for date night! I'm not good at thinking up ideas. But I like the idea posted above for the bicycle ride.
