Cold, dreary Day . . .

but, I feel better when there is pretty ice or snow to look at out the window.

A wood stove is going so we are warm, plenty of food, so no worries.

Yesterday, Becca came to sew with me. She was working on this quilt top



She purchased a bag of retro fabric, (that's what we call it) and had some more given to her. I think she said she only had one block that was repeated. And this is not all of them. She is making a king size quilt. She asked me to quilt it. I told her she could. I think we decided we would quilt it together. Unless her grandma decides to hand quilt it for her. But, I think it will be too big for her quilt frame.

I just finished the flimsy of Bonnie Hunter's Mystery Quilt.

I am too lazy to lay it out for a picture. I'll try to remember to get one when I sandwich it to quilt it.

I have decided to get out this quilt  . . .

and get the borders appliqued. So that is what I am working on today.

Ice Day

We were not supposed to have any accumulations. But we did.

This is the backyard. Even though it was above freezing today everything should have melted, but it did not.

It seems kind of strange to see all of the ice without snow on the ground. It is beautiful but the snow makes it even more so.

What do you do for 5 days without electricity?

Well, we played card games and scrabble. I had purchased a new card game, Yatzee, a couple of weeks ago. So, we sat down and figured out how to play it. Not sure if I like it or not.



One evening, we played Phase 10. I do enjoy playing that game.

 
And a couple of evenings, we played Scrabble.



So, we kept busy. Larry went to bed really early each night. (We had carried our mattress to the den where it was warm.) So, I read a lot on my kindle. We charged our cell phones in the vehicles the first night and then using the generator when plugging in the refrigerator on the other days.

We actually watched about an hour of TV Sunday evening so I could see what the weather was doing.

I am so thankful we had an alternative heat source and running water. I'm not going to say I didn't miss the internet, because I sure did. But, it would have been so much worse if we didn't have water.
