Do you use fusible web . . .

I spent the weekend working on the pink and green quilt. Kelsey helped me decide on the border fabrics. Then I decided I would add a wide border at the top to make the quilt queen size.

As I sewed, I had trouble with the borders. I was going to use the green and pink polka fabric but was short about 24 inches or the border strip. So I used one of the other green fabrics which I think ended up looking much better. Then I calculated wrong when piecing the backing fabric and had to add an extra white border around it. But, I think that turned out good also.

Then I just knew I would get the quilt sandwiched and start quilting on it tonight. But . . . no!!! I didn't have enough pins to finish pin basting it. It is such a large quilt and I knew I would be tugging it quite a bit so I put the pins pretty close together so the quilt wouldn't shift. I told my daughter it would take me about an hour to pin baste it. That was before I ran out of pins. I text her back and said that now it would take 24 hours to pin baste it. lol

I took this photo after it was laid out but before I started basting it. As for the quilting, I'm keeping it very simple so it stays soft and cuddly.

I am excited and ready to start quilting it. Hopefully the local Wal-mart will still carry the curved pins I need to finish basting. I'm going to try to remember to stop by on the way to school tomorrow so I can get busy right after school tomorrow evening. After my daily walk, of course. (Boy, it makes a difference in how I feel.)

I have another applique project I'm getting ready to start. So, tell me . . . Do you use fusible web when you applique?

Advice Needed!!!

I asked my son (the electronics genius) if I could replace my camera card and card reader for about $20 each and he laughed and told me more like $10 each. That's all I needed to know. I loaded up and went to Walmart and I'm back in business.

My pink and green top is only 68 inches right now and with a 4 inch half blocks not sewn on yet will make it 76 inches. I need it to fit a queen bed so I want to make it a little larger.

Would you add the half blocks all around and then a wide floral border and binding?

Or would you add a wide floral border and then the half blocks and maybe a narrow pink or green border and then binding?

Or would you skip the floral and use a pink or green or maybe pink, white, and then green?

Too many decisions for me. I would love your input.
