I worked at least 3 hours last night and off and on all day today and finally got the last 13 blocks completed. I didn't add them to the rest of the blocks that I already had laid out on the floor.
This is a quilt pattern from Moda Bake Shop. It is called Dancing in the Stars and was designed by Cindy Sharp whose blog is Tops to Treasures. I really wanted my quilt to be in the same color scheme as the original. As you can see my background grays are much darker than the ones Cindy used. But I think that just makes the blues pop more.
I absolutely love the way it turned out and the only change I would make is not to use the dark, dark gray in the background. It almost looks black but the quilt still looks great with the color included.
Hopefully, after I get the blocks sewed together and the borders added, I can get some good photos outside and you can really see how great it is.
Thanks Cindy and Moda Bake Shop for a great pattern that looks so very difficult but was so very easy. I think I will call mine "Starry Night" and use it for a January bed quilt because it reminds me of snow and ice.
Happy snipping, stitching, and quilting.
Oh wow, Vivian! That is spectacular! I love it. I expected a secondary pattern, but I didn't expect it to be that fabulous! I love your color choices much better than the ones Cindy used (no offense to Cindy) ... so much so that if I hadn't seen yours, I'm not sure that I would have thought twice about making this quilt. But now that I've seen yours, I have bookmarked the pattern. Your darker fabrics rally allow that white (?) to sparkle.
ReplyDeleteit does look like a winter quilt. love the colors you choose.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous pattern Vivian - love the colors you chose. blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteHi, there, Vivian. I lost track of you after you created this new blog, but I'm happy to have found you, and I see you are still doing magical things with fabric. Wow! You and my mother would be best of friends. She is a wonderful quilt maker, too. I hope life has been treating you kindly.
