Applique Project

Martingale - Welcome to the North Pole

I really need to get around to sandwiching the  "A Burst of Color in a Neutral World" quilt. It will be going to a dear friend who is building a new home. She is a "neutral" kind of gal and everyone has been telling her not to go too neutral. I just tell her to do it the way she want. If she wants to add color later on, she can paint.

In the meantime to keep busy, I have started this quilt.

I have had this pattern for 4 or 5 years now and almost talked myself out of making it. Then I decided I was in the mood to applique and that I have so many small scraps that I need to use. Sure enough, I had enough different colors of blue to cut out the background blocks. And I have the Santa and Sleigh block appliqued and a couple of others ready to applique.

Colors are definitely not true in this picture. I took it at night in a very poorly lit room.  I figure I'll work on it until I get tired of it and then put it up for later.  Who knows, maybe I'll finish it within the next few months.

Burst of Color in a Neutral World

This was such a quick quilt top to put together. Of course, I sewed quite a bit each day because we got out of school early, except on Monday.

No school today so I started out early picking up and cleaning around the house. Then I sat outside and read for awhile. It was nice and warm, so, of course, I almost fell asleep while reading. Then, I spent the evening finishing this quilt top.

The best thing about summer break is that, for the most part, it doesn't matter what day it is or what time it is.

Happy snipping, stitching, and quilting.

A New Project

has been started. I guess that is okay because I did just finish one of my UFO's.

I just love those stars. I'll try to post a close up in a couple of days. They fabric is batiks I had left over from the fat quarter bundle I purchased for Kelsey's Double Wedding Ring Quilt. Which I need to get back to after school ends (Thursday) to cut out and design the border. All blocks are complete.

And if you look closely at the picture below, you may be able to see the  double rainbow. Well, falling asleep as I type.

Happy snipping, stitching, and quilting.

Summer has arrived

in full force. We went to Fort Smith (40 miles away) on Saturday to get a few things for the home. The toilet in one bathroom was not flushing correctly and we needed a new part. We also needed filters for our under the cabinet water filter. And oh my, it was hot.

Craig and Becca cooked for us and then we went to see the new Star Trek movie.

On Sunday morning, I started early cleaning the patio. Lots of pollen to wash off of everything. Glad I started early because it was hot again today.

I spent a few hours in the late afternoon getting the binding on the Bonnie Hunter Orca Bay quilt. I absolutely love it.

I only have four days of school this week and then summer vacation will be here. I am thinking this lounge with the quilt looks like a good place to drink my coffee in the cool early morning hours.  Don't you?

 Happy snipping, stitching, and quilting.

I really have accomplished a little bit during the last few weeks.

I added the final border to the Orca Bay Bonnie Hunter Mystery quilt that I started in 2011. Then I machine quilted about 2/3 of it and just stopped and let it sit on the machine--for about two weeks. I finally sat back down to it this evening and finished the quilting.

Now I need to pick up some black fabric for the binding and it will be finished. Not sure why I let it sit for almost two years almost complete. I guess some other project caught my attention.

I only have 6 more days of school left. I hope I accomplish more this summer than I did last summer.

Happy snipping, stitching, and quilting.
